2. The Carton – This monthly magazine centres on food culture in the Middle East. Located in Beirut, Lebanon, but writing on projects around the globe, the magazine has a universal appeal and offers up projects and subjects on content you won’t find elsewhere.  The team consists of food culture, publishing and design experts who have been working in the multi-facets of these fields for over a decade.

Each issue is themed, the most recent i have read being inspired by Proust’s writings on involuntary memories, ‘those moments when the taste and smell of food inspire unanticipated and powerful recollections, transporting you to a time and place. In the same vein this issue looks at collections of tangible objects and how they can serve as a lot more than a literal sense of ownership in the mind of their collector’. So much more than food!

3. Foodism  – Every other month foodism magazine can be collected at tube stations across London. The website and magazine feature reviews, recipes, news, offers and food related guides delving into the heart of the London food scene. If you want to stay one step ahead of the city foodie trends and crazes, then this is the magazine for you.

Favourite features for us included: Foraging for Gold; sourcing mushrooms in the British Wilderness, topical now as mushroom season is underway.

4 . The art of Eating – The Art of Eating is a quarterly magazine written by Edward Behr, one of the USA’s greatest food writers. It is about the best food and wine — what they are, how they are produced, where to find them. If you love to read about food, this magazine is for you. 5. Alimentum Journal – A literary journal with food acting as the muse. Poetic tales of travel and family center around plates of food as the inspiration for memories and movement. The tagline is “The Literature of Food”; there are currently 13 issues available.From their website ‘Since 2005 Alimentum has been delighting readers with stories, essays, and poems that use food as a kind of muse to inspire memory, ideas, humor, joy, melancholy, triumph and reflection. The works are not just about what’s on your plate.
